Il sito Bleacherreport riporta un'interessante lista dei 50 giocatori che hanno cambiato il gioco del calcio. Fra questi compare anche l'ex viola Gabriel Batistuta, anche se le motivazioni paiono riduttive, vista la forza dell'attaccante in questione. L'argentino viene citato perchè " ha ispirato attaccanti come Van Nistelrooy, Crespo, Owen e tanti altri, è un attaccante che gira intorno all'area aspettando l'occasione per segnare, occasione che alla fine arriva spesso, come dimostrano le sue statistiche. Leader dei bracconieri del gol".
